Rehabilitation & exercise therapy

Exercise with a clear job to do

We use exercise to improve a defined part of function: getting up from a chair, managing steps, walking further, recovering after hospital, reducing falls risk or returning to a valued activity.

Programs may include

  • Progressive strength and power training
  • Static and dynamic balance work
  • Walking, gait and endurance practice
  • Transfer, floor-recovery and task-specific training
  • Conditioning after illness, surgery or a period of inactivity
  • Home programs for independent or supported practice

Designed for follow-through

A good program must be clinically sound and workable in the person’s actual week. We consider the home setup, available equipment, confidence, fatigue, pain, cognition, support people and what the client is genuinely willing to do.

Exercises are progressed from observed performance. We monitor response, adjust assistance and dosage, and simplify the plan when complexity would reduce adherence or safety.

One-to-one and supported exercise

Depending on assessment and availability, rehabilitation may be delivered by a physiotherapist, reinforced by an allied health assistant under direction, or combined with land-based or pool-based sessions.
